Writer, editor and explorer might best sum up the career to date of Bryan Demchinsky.
Born in Flin Flon, or Far Flung as he sometimes calls the remote northern Manitoba town, Bryan made his way to Montreal where he worked as a newsprint guy at the Montreal Gazette for nearly 30 years. During that time he was Books editor, Features editor and editor of the Business section.
Along the way he published five books, on architecture, biography, and literary history – all reflecting his enduring affection for his adopted hometown.
An inveterate traveller, Bryan has visited dozens of places around the world and written extensively about them. He currently lives in Westmount, Quebec, with his partner Katherine Walsh.
Having left the grind of daily journalism he continues to write, edit and teach, and is currently working on a family memoir.
